Mudhoney’s time line begins in 1980, when teenaged Mark Arm formed the band Mr. Epp and the Calculations with some high-school friends from the Seattle suburb of Bellevue; none of whom actually knew how to play at the time. They were described as “the worst band in the world” on more than one occasion … In January 1988, after going through several line-ups and band names – the Ducky Boys, the Limp Richerds, the Thrown Ups, and the more successful Green River – they renamed themselves Mudhoney, after a Russ Meyer film none of them had actually seen. The new foursome took the punk metal formula, added a dollop of 60s garage rock swagger and a large portion of Fun House-era Stooges, and ran it all through the cheap stomp boxes Mark Arm and Steve Turner so cherished. Turner initially expected the band to last about six months … (edited from the band’s website)
“It’s hard not to admire how Mudhoney’s perennial piss-takes are subtly deepening and how their saturated superfuzz always sounds so good.”

The quotes above are from reviews at the time of each record’s release, paraphrased here and there and attached to a song. This was a cut-up process and the quote may not originally have been about that particular song but … you know what … it doesn’t matter because it works.

Nice Toppermost on one of the more important grunge bands. Very much enjoyed it.
Thank You David! Ann
