How do you distill 35 years, 25 studio albums and a vault of unreleased material into a top 10? Prince made it easier by releasing a decade of rather average material from the early nineties onwards. But still … ask me tomorrow and I’ll have a different top 10.
And of course Purple Rain, Parade and Around The World In A Day were all released by Prince and The Revolution.

“Springtime was always my favorite time of year,
A time for lovers holding hands in the rain
Now springtime only reminds me of Tracy’s tears…
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad
Sometimes, sometimes I wish that life was never ending,
And all good things, they say, never last.”
Prince Rogers Nelson (1958-2016)

Tracks on my most played list in alphabetical order: Girls & Boys (Parade), Holy River (Emancipation), Little Red Corvette (1999), 1999 (1999), Purple Rain (Purple Rain), Raspberry Beret (Around The World In A Day), When You Were Mine (Dirty Mind)
After that everything is much less frequent, leading me to conclude I like the singles best. When You Were Mine is one I prefer in the Cyndi Lauper cover version. Little Red Corvette, Raspberry Beret and Holy River are definitely the most played.
The Batman soundtrack is an underrated Prince album but for me the Black album was Prince at his most creative. Or Sign of the Times. Or Parade. Or … there’s just too many!
